Updated: April 9, 2021 10:53 CGTN

The 2021 International Horticultural Exposition featuring more than 60 exhibition gardens opened on April 8 in Yangzhou city of East China's Jiangsu province.

A total of 64 outdoor exhibition gardens displayed at the pavilions include gardens from some Chinese cities, along with 25 exhibition gardens from other countries and international organizations.

Covering an area of around 230 hectares, the expo includes five core pavilions: Chinese Garden Culture Pavilion, Courtyard Garden Pavilion, Chinese Flower Art Pavilion, International Horticultural Pavilion and Opening and Closing Ceremony Pavilion.

At the entrance of the exhibition is a waterfall modeled after the Huangguoshu Waterfall, one of the most well-known waterfalls in China located in Southwest China's Guizhou province.

Another example would be the International Hall, which is shaped after Yangtze finless porpoises, one of the top class nationally protected animals in China, representing the love between the river and the ocean.

Six contests for flower arranging and potted and miniature landscapes will be held, while cultural performances will be staged daily. Sustainable use of the pavilions and supporting facilities will also be highlighted during this year's expo.

Visitors can enjoy the exhibition by buying tickets online or on arrival at the site starting on the afternoon of April 8. Volunteers will hand out maps to visitors while the expo offers cheap sightseeing bus service to help guests travel across the wide spread of exhibition land.

The expo is the second of its kind held in China following the Beijing International Horticultural Expo in 2019, and will last until October 8.
