A 100-gun salute was fired at the grand gathering marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on July 1 in Beijing.

President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, attended the event and delivered an important speech.
