China introduces artificial intelligence into pulsar searching project
Updated: July 13, 2021 09:53 CGTN

China is exploring artificial intelligence application in astronomy by introducing AI technology into China's pulsar searching project. The project was announced at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference.

Studying pulsars makes it possible to get answers to many important astrophysical problems. As the most sensitive radio telescope in the world, the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST) can get about 30 million signal maps of electromagnetic pulses coming from the universe per week. AI technology can shorten the process to three days.
