China launched a new communications satellite from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwestern Sichuan province on the morning of Nov 27.
The Zhongxing-1D satellite, which lifted off aboard a Long March-3B carrier rocket at 0:40 am, entered the preset orbit successfully.
Developed by the China Academy of Space Technology, the satellite is able to provide high-quality voice, data, and radio and television transmission services.
Nov 27's launch marks the 399th flight mission of the Long March rocket series.
