Constructed by the China National Offshore Oil Corporation, a project spread over 36,000 square meters on Weizhou Island in southern China has seen more than 8,000 solar panels installed. According to the company, the solar power station can help save 1.72 million cubic meters of natural gas used for electricity generation every year. It will also cut carbon emissions by 85,000 metric tons during the operational period.
