China-Europe freight trains bolster trade amid logistics disruptions

With COVID-19 pandemic disrupting international shipping and air transportation, China-Europe freight trains have become a lifeline for many exporters. Guangzhou, historically a maritime trade hub in southern China, is seeing steady growth in rail cargo.

A line in the eastern part of the city has delivered local products to Central Asia and Europe since 2021. Station operators say the trains can reach up to 16 cities in 10 countries.
