Hukou Waterfall in northern China is looking rather different these days.
Its usual dirty yellow color, due to large amounts of sand and silt in the water, has dissolved to reveal a much clearer shade.
This is due to the reduced flow of the Yellow River, where the volume of water is down to 20 percent of its peak.
The calmer environment allows the “yellow” sediment to fall to the bed of the river, giving it a much clearer appearance.
The waterfall is one of China's most popular scenic spots.
