China has seen marked achievements in biodiversity conservation over the past decade. A large number of rare and endangered wildlife species have shown recovery growth, due to its effective protection of wetlands, forest and wildlife.
The population of wild giant pandas increased to 1,864; that of wild and artificially-bred crested ibis exceeded 6,000; wild Asian elephants increased to about 300; and wild Tibetan antelopes recovered to more than 300,000.
