The first China-Mongolia freight train running on broad-gauge rails left Erenhot in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on May 25 carrying construction materials and other essential cargo to the Mongolian capital Ulan Bator. The new train route, which runs directly from Erenhot to Ulan Bator, will help shorten transportation time by as much as 30 percent, increase transport capacity, improve cargo clearance through the port and reduce freight costs.
