A highway bridge spanning the Jinyang River opened to traffic after four and a half years of construction, facilitating the people of the mountainous Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture.
With two-way lanes, lanes for non-motor vehicles, and sidewalks, the Jinyanghe Bridge is 757.7 meters long and 16 meters wide. The bridge is about 238 meters above the riverbed of the Jinyang River, with the highest pier towering at 196 meters, equivalent to the height of a 65-story building.
Before the bridge was built, it took more than an hour to travel from the old seat of Jinyang county to the new one. With the completion of the bridge, the travel time is shortened to only two minutes. The bridge is also expected to boost the county's economic development.
