Updated: July 22, 2022 09:29 CGTN

The East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), Malaysia's mega rail project built by the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), has entered its construction peak. Located in the mountainous area of Pahang State, the surrounding rocks of the Genting tunnel site are mainly granite, schist, phyllite, and argillaceous slate. At the maximum excavation capacity of 700 meters per month, it will perform three main underground tasks: excavating the tunnel, removing excavated waste to the surface, and installing concrete walls in the tunnel. The ECRL is a flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative between China and Malaysia, with a total length of 665 kilometers.
