New energy vehicles (NEVs) are proving to be a major indicator of China's push toward high-tech modernization. China's Association of Automobile Manufacturers released data on Oct 11 that showed production and sales of NEVs in September exceeded a record high of 700,000.

The data also outlined that exports reached 340,000 from January to August, an increase of over 97 percent from 2021. Production and sales have been the highest in the world since 2015.
