On November 16-17, China's first 5G maritime meteorological station entered operation in southeast China's Xiamen City in Fujian Province to provide data support for more precise weather forecasting.
The station can collect a wide range of round-the-clock meteorological data such as wind speed, wind direction and visibility, then transmit them in real time to the platform through a special 5G network.
It will help collect meteorological observation data in the waters off Xiamen and bolster the city's ability to monitor sudden and disastrous weather conditions in the maritime area.
