The State Council has decided to form a promotional committee on healthcare aimed at implementing the Healthy China initiative (2019-2030), according to a circular issued by the General Office of the State Council on July 15.
Vice-Premier Sun Chunlan was appointed as head of the committee.
The committee is intended to promote the implementation, supervision and assessment work related to the initiative. It will work on plans and policies as per annual research, and push government departments and local authorities to implement them.
It shall provide guidelines for health education and prevention, treatment and recovery of major diseases based on the change of disease spectrum and medical progress, the circular read.
Deputy directors include: Ma Xiaowei, director of the National Health Commission; Chen Baosheng, minister of education; Gou Zhongwen, head of the General Administration of Sports; and Ding Xiangyang, State Council deputy secretary-general.
Committee members include senior officials at the Ministries of Industry and Information Technology, Public Security, Finance and other related departments and bureaus.
Experts, NPC deputies, CPPCC members and public figures will also be selected as committee members.
