The State Council has agreed to set up the new Lingang area for Shanghai’s Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ), according to a circular issued to Shanghai’s municipal government and the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) on Aug 6.
The first batch of the new area initiated for the FTZ, including 7,650 hectares in the southern part of Lingang Area, 1,830 hectares of the entire Xiaoyangshan island at Shengsi county of East China’s Zhejiang province, and 2,470 hectares south of Shanghai Pudong International Airport, totaled a coverage of 11,950 hectares.
Shanghai municipal government and MOFCOM were asked to devote every effort to implement the general work plan regarding the new FTZ area.
