The Regulations on the Prevention and Control of Crop Diseases and Insect Pests were passed at the 86th executive meeting of the State Council on March 17, and shall come into force on May 1, 2020. The regulations are aimed at preventing and expelling crop pests, ensuring an ecological environment and boosting agricultural sustainable development.
Crop pest issues will be classified into three types, according to their respective features and harm.
According to the regulation, the newly-discovered crop pests, which may cause severe loss in agriculture production, should be managed as Class-I crop pests before their categories are certified.
The country encourages and supports international cooperation and exchanges in prevention of crop pests.
