The State Council has decided to adjust the staffing of the National Committee for Disaster Reduction in light of institutional setup, personnel turnover and work requirements, said a circular released by the General Office of the State Council on May 13.

State Councilor Wang Yong will serve as the head of the committee, with three individuals to assume the post of deputy head: Huang Ming, Party secretary of the Ministry of Emergency Management (MEM); Ma Yiming, deputy chief of the Joint Staff Department under the Central Military Commission; and Meng Yang, deputy secretary-general of the State Council.

The circular listed other committee members from the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Education and the National Energy Administration, among others.

The committee has based its office at the MEM for routine operations. Zheng Guoguang, vice-minister of the MEM and head of the China Earthquake Administration, will concurrently act as the office director. Any necessary adjustments to committee members are subject to approval by the head of the committee, it added.
