The General Office of the State Council issued a circular on Sept 28, approving the establishment of the Chinese organizing committee of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.

Director of the State General Administration of Sports Gou Zhongwen and Mayor of Beijing municipality Chen Jining were appointed as the chairmen of the committee, and Deputy Director of State General Administration of Sports Du Zhaocai as the executive chairman, according to the circular.

The secretariat will be set up in the Chinese Football Association and will undertake the committee's daily work.

The circular urged Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi'an, Dalian, Qingdao, Xiamen, Suzhou, and other host cities to establish corresponding institutions and report to the committee.
