The State Council approved establishing the organizing committee and executive committee for the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), according to a circular released by the General Office of the State Council on June 1.

The organizing committee should coordinate major issues in holding CIFTIS and seek approvals as required, the circular said.

Other functions include facilitating preparations and attendance by departments and localities concerned, and helping invite other nations, international and regional organizations to attend related exhibitions and conferences in the name of the Chinese government.

Led by the organizing committee, the executive committee is responsible for drafting and implementing overall and specific plans for the fair, completing any tasks involved in preparing for the event, and dispatching resources during the event.

Following decisions by the organizing committee, the executive committee should report to the former on a regular basis, the circular said.

Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua serves as chairman of the organizing committee, and Cai Qi, secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, is appointed as first deputy chairman of the organizing committee and director of the executive committee.
