Premier Li Keqiang has urged government institutions and enterprises to innovate new approaches such as dispatching excellent personnel and integrating resources to help designated areas alleviate poverty.

“For the past 30 years, the practice of fixed-point poverty reduction has played a key role in the development of related poor areas,” Premier Li said, adding that the period of the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) will be the determining time for China to eliminate poverty.

“We should improve the accuracy and efficiency on our fight against poverty, and help poverty-plagued areas find their own ways of development,” the Premier said.

In the Dec 11 work meeting on poverty alleviation, Vice-Premier Wang Yang said the government will boost capital investment, intellectual support and technological services to poverty-reduction efforts.

“We will register poor households and make them accessible for government assistance in order to raise efficiency,” Wang said.
