Premier Li Keqiang recently gave an instruction on reform and development of elementary education.

According to the instruction, elementary education involves everyone and serves as the basis for improvement of people's understanding and the realization of the national project.

The parties concerned should make efforts to improve the quality and fairness of elementary education to meet the demands of the public.

The distribution of education resources calls for optimization, with greater support needing to be offered for educational development in poverty-stricken areas.

Compulsory education expects balanced development and efficient solutions for school drop-outs from households in need. Migrant workers' children will enjoy fair compulsory education, as well.

Multi-pronged measures will be taken to improve pre-school education, with stress on enrollment of kindergartens.

High school education will be widely popularized, with more effort taken.

Departments will take action to develop Internet Plus education, making premium education resources widely accessible to more students, the instruction read.

Security precautions will be taken on campus in order to create a safe environment for students, easing parents’ concerns.

Compulsory education teachers will be paid on schedule.

Additionally, social stakeholders will be encouraged to support education across the board.

Vice-Premier Sun Chunlan addressed a meeting on national elementary education held by the State Council on July 29, pressing for sound implementation of Premier Li's instruction and the realization of high-quality educational development on the basis of widely available elementary education.
