Premier Li meets with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev

Premier Li Keqiang met with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Sept 11.

Premier Li said Kazakhstan is a friendly neighbor and a comprehensive strategic partner of China, and the two nations enjoy strong political trust and rich cooperation achievements, with a long history of friendship between the two peoples.

China, he said, is willing to connect its Belt and Road Initiative with Kazakhstan's development strategy, and achieve shared benefits through consultation and construction.

The two sides should deepen comprehensive cooperation and safeguard regional peace and stability for the well-being of the people of both nations, he said.

Premier Li hailed the mutual trust, geographical closeness, huge potential and vast prospects between the two countries, adding that China is willing to expand cooperation with Kazakhstan in energy, production capacity, nuclear power, finance and technologies.

In addition, the two sides should make good use of e-commerce platforms to raise trade volume and achieve win-win results, the Premier said.

Tokayev sent congratulations on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and said that China is an important strategic partner for Kazakhstan, and the nation is quite satisfied with the current relationship with China.

He said Kazakhstan is willing to participate in the joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative, deepen cooperation with China in various fields, expand imports from China, and increase people-to-people exchanges for sustainable and healthy bilateral ties.

Chinese enterprises are welcomed to invest in Kazakhstan, he added.

Head of the National Development and Reform Commission He Lifeng also attended the meeting.
