China is providing a constantly improving environment for manufacturers from around the world, Premier Li Keqiang said while meeting with members of the International Advisory Committee on Advanced Manufacturing in Beijing on Oct 18.
Heads from multinational corporations, including BMW, Emerson, Sanofi and other enterprises, exchanged views with Premier Li on issues such as the high-quality development of China’s manufacturing industry, digital transformation of industries, medical and health reform, as well as intelligent property rights protection.
Faced with a complex international situation, Premier Li said China’s economy maintained overall stability in the first three quarters with major macroeconomic indicators within proper range.
“We will try to fulfill the economic and social development targets of the year,” he said, adding that the constant and healthy development of China’s economy will provide more opportunities for foreign companies to invest and do business in China.
Noting that the manufacturing industry is a base for industrialization and modernization, Premier Li said, China – as a developing country that is accelerating its industrialization – is an integral part of the global manufacturing industry chain and a huge market for manufacturing products.
Viewing the development of advanced manufacturing as a strategic measure, the Chinese government has tried to create a favorable environment for the development of advanced manufacturing by reducing taxes and fees, easing market access, carrying out fair and just supervision, and strengthening intellectual property rights protection, thus to advance China’s manufacturing from medium- and low-end to high-end development and to achieve high-quality development, the Premier said.
Developing advanced manufacturing requires open cooperation, and the country welcomes manufacturing enterprises around the world to seize the opportunity in the process of its further opening-up to conduct active cooperation with China, expand the market and achieve mutual benefits and win-win results, the Premier added.
The representatives said manufacturing is the lifeblood of a country’s economic development. In today's world, technological progress has a significant impact on industrial development, and manufacturing enterprises can play an important role.
They applauded measures by the Chinese government to cut taxes and fees, streamline administration and delegate power, and strengthen protection on intelligent property rights, which will promote the development of advanced manufacturing.
They also hoped to strengthen cooperation with China to promote industry transformation and upgrading to achieve common development.
He Lifeng, head of the National Development and Reform Commission, also attended the meeting.
