Premier Li Keqiang paid a visit to the largest wholesale center of agricultural products in Nanchang on Nov 15 during his inspection in East China's Jiangxi province.

He learned about pork prices in Nanchang, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Xi'an, and Changsha, and asked for a closer look at the market situation.

In the frozen section, Premier Li asked whether domestic and imported frozen pork could meet market demands, and some merchants said the high transportation cost of frozen pork somehow raised the prices.

Premier Li responded that the government was studying ways to lower transportation costs, and governments at all levels will also figure out ways to cut circulation costs for all parties in the agricultural business, including merchants, buyers, and carriers.

The government will spare no effort to lower pork prices, and stabilize the supply for the coming Spring Festival and Lantern Festival, he added.
