Premier Li Keqiang made an important instruction to a national video and telephone conference on safety production, held by the Safety Production Committee of the State Council on Nov 22.

He said production safety is an extremely important responsibility.

Premier Li said some regions and industries, such as hazardous chemicals, have witnessed accidents this year, which caused heavy loss of life and property, made serious social impact, and served as harsh lessons. All local governments and departments should be guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and earnestly implement the decisions and arrangements made by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council.

“We should firmly foster a people-centered development philosophy and a concept of putting life and safety first,” Premier Li said. “Also, we should further identify and implement the safety production responsibilities of each industry, each production and business operation unit and each production link, strengthened work in safety production to prevent major accidents,” he wrote in the instruction.

Premier Li urged need to effectively implement the special safety inspections on hazardous chemical substances around the country. He said all local governments should adopt self-examination and correction to check and regulate potential safety hazard in an all-around and effective way. Also, concrete steps should be taken to strengthen the safety foundation construction and speed up the modernization of safety production governance system and capacity.

It is almost the end of the year, and the Spring Festival is coming, Premier Li said, stressing that we must avoid carelessness in workplace. The emergency on-duty shift and emergency preparedness should be enhanced to effectively protect the safety of life and property of the people.
