Premier Li Keqiang held a phone conversation with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Premier Li said the Chinese government has always put people's life and health first. The government is enacting prevention and control of the pneumonia caused by novel coronavirus in a public, transparent, forceful and orderly manner, he added.
Currently, the emphasis in work lies in preventing the epidemic from spreading, patient treatment and safeguarding a normal life for people and foreigners in China, Premier Li said.
The Chinese government and people are confident, determined and able to win the battle against the epidemic, the Premier said.
Premier Li stressed China is working at full strength to guarantee adequate medical supplies for front line medical staff, and he hoped the EU could help China through commercial channels.
China is willing to strengthen exchange and cooperation of information, policy and technology with the international community, including the EU, the Premier added.
Von der Leyen said the EU highly respects and recognizes China's efforts to prevent and control the epidemic.
The EU appreciates China's quick response to the epidemic, Von der Leyen said, adding it is willing to mobilize all possible resources to offer help and coordinate related member states to provide a convenience pathway for China's procurement of clinical supplies.
State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi also attended to activity.
