Premier Li meets with Cambodian PM

Premier Li Keqiang met with visiting Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Feb 5.

Premier Li said that Prime Minister Hun Sen’s visit at this time demonstrates the Cambodian people’s friendship toward the Chinese people and their support for China’s fight against the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak. China attaches great importance to his visit and is willing to work with Cambodia to further expand comprehensive strategic cooperation, Premier Li said.

The Chinese government and people are sparing no efforts to fight the novel coronavirus, the Premier said. The government always puts people’s safety and health first. Prevention and control of the epidemic is the top priority of the government work at present, while scientific control and prevention measures will be taken, and utmost efforts will be made to treat the patients. Key medical resources, control and prevention items, and basic living supplies should be guaranteed to ensure the normal life of Chinese citizens as well as foreign expats, Cambodian included.

The Premier also promised a responsible attitude in combating the coronavirus, and said the government will release information and keep the public informed in a timely manner. China is also willing to conduct international cooperation in this field.

Hun Sen said his visit during this difficult time is to show that China and Cambodia will go through thick and thin together.

On behalf of the Cambodian government and its people, he expressed consolation to Chinese people infected by the epidemic, and gave thanks to the Chinese government for help for Cambodian students and expats in China.

He said they will stand with the Chinese government and its people, overcoming panic and difficulties together.

He also said he believed the Chinese people will be successful in the fight against the epidemic, and the Cambodian government is glad to strengthen all-around pragmatic cooperation with China, enhancing the bilateral ties to a higher level.

State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and He Lifeng, head of National Development and Reform Commission, also attended the meeting.
