China will tighten the management of asymptomatic patients, take preventive measures against COVID-19 import at land borders, and promote the resumption of work and production amid optimized epidemic control, according to those at a meeting presided over by Premier Li Keqiang on April 2.
Premier Li also is a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and head of the leading group on novel coronavirus prevention and control. Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and deputy head of the leading group, also attended the meeting.
According to those at the meeting, under the new major changes of the epidemic control situation at home and abroad, Chinese authorities were required to remove hidden dangers and risks in epidemic control, deter import of the disease at land borders, and improve prevention and control of clustering infections.
According to those at the meeting, strict measures will be rolled out on the management of asymptomatic cases, including screening and reporting, and quarantine and medical supervision, as well as observation of close contacts.

The epidemiological investigation on asymptomatic cases will be conducted with different focuses in Wuhan city, Hubei province and other regions, so that prevention and control will be more scientific and accurate.
Clinical cure and discharge standards should be rigorously implemented with whole-process medical management of quarantine, clinical observation, further consultation, and follow-up visits. Timely quarantine and treatment should be conducted for those who suffer a relapse.

Key passages and shortcuts in border regions should be watched over, and epidemic-prevention cooperation with neighboring countries should be stepped up.
It was stressed at the meeting that local governments should adjust and optimize prevention measures for key sites, units, and groups.
With good ventilation, sterilization, and health monitoring in place, low-risk regions should promote the regular operation of offices, shopping malls, farm markets, and parks.
Large-scale gatherings should be strictly controlled with stronger protection for the elderly, students and pregnant women.
Those at the meeting also called for coordinated work on epidemic control and social and economic development. While pressing ahead with work and production resumption, the emergency response mechanism and regular prevention should be continued.
Effective measures will be adopted to support small enterprises to realize coordinated production resumption throughout the industry chain.
To promote economic recovery, new industries, people's livelihoods, and reform also were stressed to expand market demands and inspire market vitality.
Ding Xuexiang, Huang Kunming, Cai Qi, Wang Yi, Xiao Jie, and Zhao Kezhi, all members of the leading group, also attended the meeting.
