Premier Li Keqiang sent a written instruction to the 2020 China Brand Day Online, which opened on May 10.
According to Premier Li’s instruction, strengthening brand building and improving the quality and influence of Chinese products and services is essential for boosting domestic demand and promoting high-quality development.
All local governments and related departments should implement innovation-driven strategy, deepen the promotion of mass entrepreneurship and innovation, and always give priorities to quality, the Premier instructed. Efforts should also be made to further strengthen brand awareness in the society, and guide enterprises to develop the spirit of profession and craftsmanship.
More famous and outstanding brands should be created to expand the market space with stronger competitiveness, and to better meet the demand of consumption upgrading and the national development, according to the instruction.
Vice-Premier Han Zheng and He Lifeng, head of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), attended the main venue in Beijing while Li Qiang, Party secretary of Shanghai, was at the main venue in Shanghai. The three leaders participated in the launch ceremony through online platforms.
Premier Li’s instruction was read at the beginning of the ceremony. The vice-premier declared the opening of the event at 10 am.
The online event is an innovative activity under the regular epidemic prevention and control and an active exploration to continuously propel the development and building of Chinese brands.
Co-hosted by the NDRC, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce, the State Administration for Market Regulation, the National Intellectual Property Administration and the Shanghai municipal government, the event is under the theme of “China Brand, World Sharing; All-round Moderate Prosperity, Sophisticated Life; Power of Brand, Combating COVID-19 with Full Swing”.
The event will see online exhibitions featuring Chinese independent brands and an online international forum on the development of Chinese brands. Over 1,300 enterprises will participate in the campaign and famous experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs will be invited to deliver speeches and share ideas on the development of Chinese brands and global cooperation on the fight against the COVID-19 with netizens from home and abroad.
