BEIJING — China will prioritize stabilizing employment and ensuring people's livelihood this year, aiming to create more than 9 million new urban jobs, according to a government work report submitted to the national legislature for deliberation on May 22.

The surveyed urban unemployment rate will be kept at around 6 percent, said the report delivered by Premier Li Keqiang at the opening meeting of the annual national legislative session.

The country will create synergy to stabilize employment through the coordinated use of fiscal, monetary and investment policies, the report said.

Efforts will be made to increase employment support for key sectors and groups, including college graduates, demobilized military personnel, rural migrant workers and people facing difficulties in finding jobs.

To stabilize employment, China will also finance skills training, with more than 35 million vocational skills training opportunities to be provided in 2020 and 2021, according to the report.
