Premier Li Keqiang urged acceleration in building China into a meteorological power in an instruction, as this year marks the 50th anniversary of the launch of the Fengyun meteorological satellites.
Fengyun meteorological satellites are vital spatial infrastructures for China, as well as important signs of meteorological modernization, Premier Li said.
He applauded the huge progress China's meteorological services have made over the past 50 years, and sent greetings to workers engaged in meteorology and aerospace industries.
The Premier stressed efforts to focus on the country’s major strategies and to meet new demands for economic and social development, carry out the overall plan to build a meteorological power and enhance capabilities of disaster prevention and relief.
Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua attended a symposium on the Fengyun meteorological satellites’ 50th anniversary in Beijing on Oct 10.
He called on related departments to follow the guidance of President Xi Jinping and implement instructions of Premier Li Keqiang to obtain high-quality development of Fengyun meteorological satellites and better serve the development of a modern socialist country.
