"It is strictly prohibited to carry out repetitive and overlapping inspections, and inspection beyond authority. Formalism and bureaucracy must be avoided for the primary levels to reduce burden," Premier Li Keqiang stressed at the State Council's executive meeting on Dec 1.

At the meeting, the draft of the Government Inspection Provision was passed.

Premier Li said the main purpose of the provision is to ensure the implementation of major decisions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council.

The provision specified the position and responsibilities of government inspection, stipulated its procedures and supportive measures and made it clear NPC deputies and CPPCC members, government counselors, experts and scholars can be invited on inspections.
