Premier Li Keqiang called for solid work in epidemic prevention and production safety for the Labor Day holiday while chairing the State Council’s executive meeting on April 27.
The State Council joint prevention and control mechanism against COVID-19 has laid out measures, Premier Li said, but more attention should be paid given the complex and severe global epidemic situation and the expected holiday travel rush.
Analysis indicated the total number of passenger trips during the upcoming Labor Day holiday might exceed that of 2019.
Premier Li urged the State Council joint prevention and control mechanism against COVID-19 to improve measures, guide all areas and departments, learn from previous effective practices, and strictly carry out regular prevention and control.
Controlled visits, reservations, and off-peak arrangements should be adopted to avoid excessive gatherings in scenic spots, he said.
Meanwhile, all areas must make contingency plans in advance and consolidate efforts to ensure traffic and production safety, the Premier added.
Strategic achievements in current epidemic prevention and control have come at a cost. As the epidemic is still spreading around the world, epidemic control should be tightened during the holiday, Premier Li said.
