The western regions should take greater responsibility in receiving industries transferred from the east, Premier Li Keqiang said on Aug 21 during an inspection tour to Southwest China’s Chongqing municipality.

He made the remarks at the BOE Technology Group, an Internet of Things (IoT) company. Since 2012, it has invested more than 87 billion yuan ($12.5 billion) in Chongqing, mainly due to the city's advantages in human resources and business environment, according to the people in charge.

The Premier said the western regions have great potential and capabilities, and should not only be active in undertaking industries transferred from the east, but also be brave enough to participate in international competitions.

He also inspected the production line of generation-8.5 LCD panels and learned about the flexible display panel project that is under construction. He told employees that their products are closely related to people's everyday life, as mobile phones, computers and television sets cannot work without LCD panels.

Premier Li expressed his hopes that their products can be upgraded constantly to provide people with more colorful visual enjoyment.
