Premier Li Keqiang stopped at Shanghai Jiaotong University on Sept 22 during his inspection tour to Shanghai, and visited the national key laboratory of marine engineering to learn about basic research and technological innovation.
At the Qian Xuesen library he viewed the display of scientific research results, and had in-depth exchanges with academicians and professors on removing obstacles restricting the vitality of scientific and technological innovation.
Through years of efforts to put scientific and technological results into practice, many major barriers have been removed, the Premier said.
However, minor restrictions still abound, especially in the front lines of scientific research, which pose a serious drag on researchers, he said, urging accompanying officials to address the problem.
Walking out of the library, Premier Li encouraged nearby students to carry on the spirit of innovation, and bring more pride to this century-old university.
