Premier Li Keqiang joined the delegation of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region to the 13th National People's Congress for deliberation on the Government Work Report on March 6.
Huang Huachun, deputy principal of Chongzuo High School from Chongzuo city, South China's Guangxi, suggested higher salaries and further cemented training, to help elementary and middle schools in rural areas recruit and retain teachers.
Referring to Huang's suggestion, Premier Li asked about the average wages of compulsory education teachers from county- and township-level schools and local civil servants, and inquired about channels for teachers to beef up their teaching abilities.
He responded that the education of rural children is of great importance to their growth and development, an arduous task of great responsibility.
The government will study and introduce preferable policies to step up contractual and oriented training for rural teachers, and enhance their occupational abilities and salaries, Premier Li said.
