Premier Li Keqiang visits cataract patients in Addis Ababa

Premier Li Keqiang visited Ethiopian patients treated by China’s “Bright Journey” program on May 6, 2014. The project gives free treatment for cataracts, and has returned sight to about 2,000 African patients since 2010.

Premier Li visited the Alert Hospital in Addis Ababa, accompanied by Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome. He removed the gauze of two post-operative patients and congratulated them on their restored vision.

Premier Li also met with Chinese staff at the hospital, thanking them for their contributions. Premier Li said China would send its best doctors and to Ethiopia and other African countries to help more people.
