Premier meets Afghan President

Premier Li Keqiang met with Afghanistan’s new President Ashraf Ghani Ahmandzai on Oct 29.

Premier Li said China will actively participate in infrastructure construction in Afghanistan including railway, road and electricity. He stressed that the bilateral relations and cooperation of the two countries will benefit from regional peace and stability.

Premier Li said he is looking forward to attending the Conference of Istanbul Process on Afghanistan together with President Ghani. President Ghani thanked China for hosting the fourth Foreign Ministers’ conference of Istanbul Process on Afghanistan. He added that deepening China-Afghanistan relations is at the core of his country’s foreign policy.

Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhang Dejiang also met with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai on Wednesday. Zhang said China is set to strengthen its support to the peaceful reconstruction of Afghanistan. He also called for practical cooperation between the two countries to bring more welfare to the people. He added that China’s National People’s Congress is willing to cooperate with the Afghan Parliament and exchange experiences of policy making.

President Ghani said his country is keen on enhancing the strategic partnership and hoped for more mutually beneficial cooperation in security, economy and culture.
