Premier welcomes Canadian PM

Premier Li Keqiang has met with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who has just arrived in Beijing for the APEC meetings.

During their meeting, the leaders discussed issues ranging from trade, economics, politics and natural resources.

Li praised the two countries’ past achievements and expressed his wishes for closer ties between the two countries in the future. He stressed that the two countries should boost people-to-people exchanges to boost bilateral trust.

Harper said that Canada is willing to work with China in various fields and to bring prosperity to both nations. The two have also expressed a willingness to strengthen the long-standing ties between the two nations.

The prime minster arrived in Beijing on Nov 7 to attend the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting. Li held a welcome ceremony for Harper, who started his five-day official visit to China on Nov 5. The first leg was Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.
