Premier Li Keqiang has called for continued peace and stability in East Asia during a speech at the East Asia Summit. Li also urged deeper regional economic integration.

To achieve that goal, he urged cooperation in six key areas. These include increasing trade and investment, as well as maritime and people-to-people exchanges. Premier Li said China and ASEAN members are discussing a treaty aimed at providing a framework and the legal guarantees for peaceful ties between the two sides.

Speaking on the matter of maritime disputes in the South China Sea, Premier Li said both sides have identified a dual-track approach to deal with the issue. After the meetings, Li will remain in Myanmar for a state visit, with the two countries expected to sign a number of trade deals.
