Premier Li Keqiang visited Shenzhen on Jan 5 and told the local government that the city should take a pioneering role in China’s reforms and opening-up.

Li said that role should include developing a Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect program to follow up on the success of the Shanghai-Hong Kong Connect program. The recently launched link-up allows investors in Shanghai and Hong Kong to trade shares on each other’s markets.
