China aims to expand domestic demand, promote coordinated regional development and advance people-centered new urbanization, Premier Li Keqiang said as he delivered a government work report to the opening meeting of the first session of the 14th National People's Congress in Beijing on Sunday.
China will better leverage the fundamental role of consumption in stimulating economic growth and foster a sound domestic demand system to promote its long-term development. The government will also work to increase the income of urban and rural residents.
Guided by the principle that cities should be built by the people and for the people, China will advance people-centered new urbanization, which includes granting permanent urban residency to eligible people who move from rural to urban areas, according to the report.
