BEIJING — Chinese police will increase patrols and inspections to ensure road safety during the upcoming Mid-autumn Festival travel rush, said the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on Sept 4.

Authorities will focus on overloading, speeding, fatigue and drunken driving during the rush, said the MPS in a statement.

Inspections will be enhanced on school buses and minibuses in rural areas.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on Sept 8 this year, is a traditional Chinese holiday during which families reunite under the full moon.
