State councilor meets Pakistan’s navy staff chief

On April 21, State Councilor and Defense Minister Wei Fenghe met with Pakistan Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi in Beijing, who is here to attend the ceremony celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Chinese Navy.

Wei said cooperation on defense and security between the two countries is a vital pillar of China-Pakistan relations, and the exchanges and cooperation in various fields have been fruitful over the years.

China is willing to work with Pakistan’s army to strengthen pragmatic cooperation in various fields and make active contributions to the development of bilateral relations between the two countries and the two armies, especially the two navies, he added.

For his part, Abbasi said Pakistan cherishes the Pakistan-China traditional friendship, and appreciates China’s support and help.

He also said Pakistan would like to promote closer high-level exchanges and strategic communication with China and promote development of relations between the two countries and the two armies.
