BEIJING — Vice-Premier Han Zheng called for achieving new breakthroughs in cutting red tape and improving the business environment.

Han made the remarks on Jan 14 at a meeting on transforming the government's functions and reforms that streamline administration, delegate power, improve regulations and upgrade services.

Han stressed upholding the market's decisive role in resource allocation and seeing that the government plays its role better, noting that there should be less government intervention in microeconomic activities.

Efforts should be made to ensure continued improvement in China's business environment with a focus in key areas, further ease market access, and advance the reform of separating business licenses from administrative permits, the vice-premier said.

Han also called for the solid implementation of regulations on optimizing the business environment, so as to create a business environment that is market-oriented, based on rule of law and internationalized.
