BEIJING — Vice-Premier Han Zheng said on Sept 1 that China will accelerate the construction of a low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system to make the energy supply more stable, secure and sustainable.
Han, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks while delivering a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the 2022 Taiyuan Energy Low Carbon Development Forum via video.
China has made remarkable achievements in advancing its energy revolution and made important contributions to sustainable energy development in the world, he said.
Based on the national conditions of rich coal reserves and reduced oil and gas supplies, the country will further promote the clean and efficient use of coal and enhance the supply capacity of oil and gas to safeguard its energy security, Han said.
The country will accelerate the green and low-carbon transformation in energy use through developing new energy and clean energy, as well as boosting the use of renewable energy, he said.
China is ready to work with other countries to build a new cooperation pattern, which features openness and win-win cooperation, in the energy sector, Han said.
