Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua called for careful preparations to ensure a successful second China International Import Expo (CIIE).

Hu, also head of the CIIE organizing committee, made the remarks at the committee’s second plenary meeting in Beijing on July 19.

He said the focus of preparatory work for the expo has shifted from inviting exhibitors to attracting investment and arranging exhibitions.

Greater efforts should be made to organize foreign affairs activities, prepare for country exhibitions, host the Hongqiao International Economic and Trade Forum and its supporting activities, and perform other work, such as promotion and security protection, said the vice-premier.

Hu also urged all participating departments to make concerted efforts in the preparatory work with clear division of responsibilities and close cooperation.
