XI'AN — Hu Chunhua, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, has called for more efforts to rectify problems found in the country's poverty alleviation campaign.
Hu, also chief of the State Council leading group of poverty alleviation and development, made the remarks during an inspection tour in Northwest China's Shaanxi province.
He visited Zuoshui and Shanyang counties, where he inspected poor villages and new homes of relocated residents, and got first-hand information on education, health, housing and water supply for disadvantaged households.
Hu said officials should take a problem-oriented approach to poverty relief and make all-out efforts to tackle the issues.
A long-term mechanism should be established to ensure sustained poverty relief results, with measures to support local industries as well as employment, education and healthcare for people living in poverty, Hu said.
