HEFEI — Hu Chunhua, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, on June 12 emphasized stronger support for old revolutionary bases and called for all-out efforts to complete the task of poverty eradication.
Hu, also chief of the State Council's leading group on poverty alleviation and development, made the remarks during an inspection tour in East China's Anhui province.
Efforts should be made to consolidate the outcomes of poverty alleviation and ensure that people in poor areas of old revolutionary bases step into a moderately prosperous society in all respects together with the rest of the country, Hu said.
He stressed focusing on the remaining tasks in poverty alleviation while preventing people from falling back into poverty.
Efforts should also be made to enhance industrial development, increase support for infrastructure and public services as well as improve self-development capabilities of old revolutionary bases, Hu said.
