BEIJING — Hu Chunhua, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, stressed efforts to ensure the full completion of poverty-alleviation targets with a high level of quality, while keeping the COVID-19 virus contained.
Hu, also head of the State Council's leading group on poverty alleviation and development, made the remarks at a teleconference on poverty-reduction tasks on June 18.
He highlighted efforts to focus on the remaining key tasks in poverty alleviation, offset the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic and help improve job security for poor laborers.
Meanwhile, tasks should be carried out to consolidate the outcomes of poverty alleviation and prevent people from falling back into poverty, he said.
Hu also underscored the need to stay focused during the final stage of the anti-poverty fight, warning against rushing for quick results or slacking off, while calling for careful inspections to locate and close loopholes in the poverty-reduction work.
